We worked with the BBC to make this video about the Titanic. It is for BBC History and serves to introduce people to the basics of the story. We think it is important to compliment the material for enthusiasts with something for those new to the subject. http://bbc.in/IA0ssj Here are some more thoughts: http://bit.ly/HOdw1Q feedback to: info@aftertheflood.co

Manhattan Loft Gardens is the luxury 42 storey hotel and residential tower in the heart of Stratford City and once complete will form an iconic part of the London 2012 Olympic Legacy. We produced this film for developers Manhattan Loft Corporation, and collaborated with music partners The Mighty Low, who produced a unique score to accompany the visuals. We have a shared music machine in our studio. Anyone can put anything on they want at any time, no rules. It’s a democratic system that seems to work 99% of the time. But occasionally the system fails and that’s what inspired me to build this poster. Built as an R&D project at http://bit.ly/Jdq4NW

Archifon is a big interactive virtual musical instrument originally made for the Olomouc Baroque de-baptized chapel. Architectonical objects are re-interpreted by virtual visual elements via projection and sound. It is possible by mapping the virtual surface on the chapel’s interior. Up to ten visitors at a time can interact with the Archifon through the laser pointers. By pointing on any of more than 100 elements different audiovisual actions are initiated. Piccolo is a pocket-sized stand-alone CNC platform. For less than $70, you can assemble your personal Arduino-compatible kit for tinkering, developing and deploying basic 3D output. Be it plotting quick graffiti, printing a one-off business card on the fly, or multiple Piccolos working together to create a large mural, this kit provides a platform for experimenting with 2D or 3D digital fabrication at a small scale. This open-source design emphasizes simplicity, and is entirely composed of digitally manufactured components and inexpensive off-the-shelf hardware. www.piccolo.cc by: Tiago Rorke | Diatom Studio, www.tiago.co.nz Greg Saul | Diatom Studio, www.gregsaul.co.uk Cheng Xu | CMU CoDe Lab, www.cheeriocheng.com Huaishu Peng | CMU CoDe Lab, www.huaishu.me music: Wet Wings - Last Day of Summer | wetwings.lilchiefrecords.com/track/last-day-of-summer

Great great presentation on the landscape of design in the 21st century. We shape our tools and our tools shape us.” As more of the tools we live with every day become digital instead of physical, our opportunity – and responsibility – as designers is multiplying. We live in a world of screens, and we are the ones who decide what goes on them. We are in a unique position to have an impact – one that lasts longer than the next redesign or the latest technology. What happens when we stop thinking of ourselves not just as developers or experience designers, and take up the mantle as a new generation of product designers for a digital world? Prismatica consists of an arrangement of pyramid-shaped crystals affixed to an LCD screen and illuminated with programmed geometric animation. The animated patterns are precisely mapped to the vertices of the crystals, illuminating them individually and in formation. The animations are further refracted through the geometry of the crystals in accordance with the shifting perspective of the observer, which in turn alters the way the illuminations appear and interact with reflections of surrounding lights within the space. this piece acts as an extension of the visual and perceptual experimentations of my immersive installations. Teaser film to promote the panel discussion that we’re involved in out at SXSW -‘How can paper electronics save the music industry?’

Over the last hundred or so years, the brewing industry in the United States has changed dramatically. From the saloon era through consolidation to today’s flourishing craft beer culture, it’s been quite a ride. Take a look at how the small brewer is making quite a comeback after nearly a half century of decline. It’s a great time for beer!

Sweet Tweet is the first project to come out of Uniform’s research platform, ULAB. We’ve been exploring the idea of Physical Apps, objects that connect to the internet to perform dedicated tasks, enabling users to access information or services without using a standard interface like a mouse, keyboard or touchscreen. Sweet Tweet is an extension of this idea.

We wanted to create a physical app that connected our studio to our Twitter followers, so we created a cuckoo clock that dispenses sweets for our team to eat, each time we get a new follower on Twitter.

Now every time we’re followed everyone in the studio shares a very tangible, glanceable and aural notification as our clock toots and tweets a sweet, which makes us all smile. Follow us on twitter at http://bit.ly/zdJAFq

1992 Marble Answer Machine. The physical visualisation of a system. This was the second of many demonstrations that simplified the interaction of products. It uses the direct manipulation of messages within the descriptive environment of a product and then the extension of this language to other products. Durrell Bishop Luckybite.com
